Thanks to Kate Moss the 1920's veil is a big hit. This is a custom designed veil I created recently for one of my brides to match her dress. Can't wait to see pictures of her whole ensemble!

I Declare Bustles are Back!

So many brides start out by saying "I don't want a big long train". But more often than not once they see how fun and elegant some trains are (the light chiffon and lacey ones are the best) their reaction is a little more " oooh but it's so pretty!" Now, the real fun part of a train is when it is bustled.  The 'fun factor' just goes up a few notches.  It turns a long, dramatic dress into a super cute dress.  When choosing a vintage bridal gown, many of our brides are going with a permanent bustle because it is so fun!

Before and After

Here is a before and after picture of a dress I  finished recently.  The bride bought it online and asked me if I would  repair the lace and reshape the neckline. Loved, loved working with that lace and I think it came out pretty well if I do say so myself!

So Many Dresses So Little Time...

I have been working like crazy to post as many pictures of dresses online as possible. I'm going to take a break (but it's hard when they all are everywhere I look saying pick me! pick me!) because I know the importance of literally trying the dress on.  It's really difficult picking out a wedding dress just from a picture. Having had a few appointments with brides in the last couple of weeks confirms what I knew all along. You have to try the dress on. Besides the fact that every dress looks different on everybody, there's the issue of trying on something you never would have imagined. As was the case with a bride last week. I had her try on a dress that looked fantastic and she admitted that she never would have tried it on if she just saw a picture of it online. So don't be afraid to try something different!

Bridal Season is in Full Bloom!

I am so happy to be working with brides again! After a winter hiatus I am taking appointments in my home studio and I look forward to working personally with my brides.

Welcome

I am dedicating this blog to the art of Vintage Bridal Designs. Many people have asked me over the years "How did you come to be in this business?"  The answer is not a short or simple one so I am attempting to offer some information bit by bit. One main factor was planning and creating my own wedding. This story I will be writing in segments and can be found in separate pages.
